Caring for a sick or terminally ill child is a challenge in and of itself. With COVID-19 restrictions in place, it makes an already stressful time even more difficult for families.

While both St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital strive to meet the needs of patients’ families, there are cases in which it is not possible.

Chris Hope, founder of the Chris Hope Foundation (CHF), started the nonprofit in April 2015 to assist families who need help beyond what hospitals can provide. Hope envisioned a house for families of local children’s hospitals patients, and that dream came to fruition last year.

Since opening its doors in September 2020, the CHF House has been able to host several families of patients being treated at St. Jude and Le Bonheur. The Watt family is currently in the CHF House, and they are the first long-term tenants, having moved in the house in mid-March with plans to stay until at least August while their daughter receives treatment at St. Jude.
