MEET TE’RETTA
Te’Retta is our fearless and passionate volunteer coordinator. It’s because of her we’re able to mobilize our amazing volunteers to support our annual events, such as the CHF Race for Hope and the CHF Bowling Tournament.
What is it about our mission that makes you the most excited to be involved?
Te’Retta: CHF empowering families makes me the most excited to be involved. Despite what families are going through, we always find ways to embrace families, bring a smile to their faces, and try to pull the focus away from what they’re going through.
If you could use only one word to describe how it feels to you when you know a struggling family and a sick child have been helped, what’s your word?
Overjoyed
What is a special CHF moment that you remember most?
Spending time with Dylan for a Local Memphis (ABC 24) TV interview. He was chatty, quick-witted, and excited about being there despite his illness. It was a great time to be with him and his mom and learn more about his journey.
We like to say that this is “our” foundation – the community’s. How would you describe what it’s like to be part of “our” foundation?
Being a part of “our” foundation is fun, rewarding, and work … good work! Knowing that everything we do is to help breathe hope into a family’s life is worth it.
You’ve been with us since the inception of the foundation now. We’re still a small and growing nonprofit. What do you hope we can accomplish together in five years from now?
- More treatment homes for families
- Teams in more cities/states
- Worldwide connections/donors
Have you ever involved friends or family members in your work with our foundation? What was it like for them to see our work firsthand?
Yes. They were elated at the actual work going forth and the impact it has on families. Seeing the work firsthand has made them recurring volunteers.
Tell us a little more about you. When you’re not working with CHF, how do you spend your time?
When I’m not working with CHF, I’m on video chat with my grandson A’Zias; running, working out, and/or training; and empowering others to be their best self. I’m a certified personal trainer and running coach, as well as a local co-Ambassador for Black Girls RUN!
